Lime Point is the northern side of Golden Gate Strait, near the north anchorage of the Golden Gate Bridge. Lime Point has a foghorn and a lighthouse. The light is at a height of 20′ above the water and was established in 1900.

The San Francisco Ferry Building was completed in 1898 and survived both the 1906 and the 1989 earthquakes with little damage. This was the second busiest transit terminal in the world in the 1930 but passenger ferry use dropped significantly after the Bay Bridge was the Golden Gate Bridge were constructed.The ferry building is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and is San Francisco Designated Landmark #90.
