This 13th century cathedral is located in the Piazza del Duomo in the historic center of Florence Italy. Construction began in 1296 in the Gothic style and was completed in 1436. Because of the length of time that it took to complete the cathedral, elements of several other archetectural styles were incorporated (Romanesque and neo-Gothic). This church is one of Italy’s largest with a capacity of 30,000. The dome is the largest brick dome ever constructed.
